“Lovely Lady” shows her grace and beauty with her flowing dress and high heels. Her face looks toward the sky and her arms reach out, as if illustrating true joy. Not surprisingly, inspiration for this piece came from watching dancers. In particular, I was viewing the Boston Ballet and their “parade of dancers.”
Lovely Lady has dimensions of 24″H x 12″W.
When I viewed the finished piece, it occurred to me that I should create a 2D replica that can be mounted or hung. With the full approval of my sculpting mentor, I mounted the sculpture with good lighting, measured it and produced Lovely Lady in Relief (see below).
When you view them side-by-side, you can appreciate why I thought to create the 2D version. I hope the joie de vivre, or the true delight in being keenly alive, comes through in these works.
