One reason I love to sculpt ballet dancers is that it is satisfying to immortalize their work and illustrate the physical impact of their efforts to initiate every movement.
One cannot underestimate the athleticism required for dance. As Dance Consortium notes, “A dancer must certainly achieve physical agility, stamina and strength in their profession and physical skill must be mastered.” It takes a lot of athletic and intellectual ability to move in step and to be precise in each and every dance movement.
While several of my pieces illustrate more than one dancer, including New Menorah, Menorah of Freedom, Flying Ballet, and Perfect, this piece, Tango, really illustrates the beauty of being in perfect step, with the added challenge of holding and leading each other. This piece measures: 17″H x 10″W x 18″L.
My intent in this piece was to demonstrate how the dance itself is a work of art. Each dancer’s arms are outstretched, demonstrating synchronism. Their feet are in perfect step as they march to the music together.
These bronze works of art, and other pieces featured on my site, are available for purchase. Contact me to discuss ordering or visit one of my affiliated galleries.
